Our Garden Design Process

This is where our journey begins. The steps needed to achieve your perfect Garden Design are outlined below in order of processes

Initial Consultation

The first step in our garden design process is an initial consultation. This involves us visiting the site, getting to know each other and fully assess what design aspects you require. This enable us to propose a fee for all the elements involved and create a design brief that meets your requirements and visualization. 

Site Survey

The next step is to carry out a site survey. The scale of this is determined by the size and complexity of the site. The survey will plot the existing garden and house including features such as existing trees and levels. The survey is essential in providing an accurate base plan to work from.

Masterplan

This third stage consists of a hand drawn or computer aided 2D masterplan and 3D visuals and mood board imagery. The masterplan is focused on ensuring that the layout of the garden is perfect. It considers locations of hard landscaping, planting, walling and any bespoke features. We will also begin to explore materials and style.

Detailed Design

This stage of the garden design process fine tunes all material decisions and develops the initial masterplan even further. The following plans would be common of the detailed design stage.

  • Detailed design plans, containing more in depth information of each area in the garden
  • Materials plans, specifying all material finishes in the garden such as paving types, walling materials, cladding etc.
  • Construction detailing. Technical drawings and section elevations of all constructed elements of the garden will enable the garden to be built and costed exactly as specified.
  • Levels plans, detailing all levels and falls across the site.
  • Lighting Plans, specifying all light fittings and circuit runs throughout the site.
  • Irrigation plans, detailing all irrigation types and feeds across the site.

Planting Design

A well-thought-out planting plan is the cornerstone of any successful garden design. This plan will enable us to accurately cost the planting supply and installation. The installation of plants is not outsourced as we know that by installing the plants ourselves they will have the best start to ensure they thrive for many years to come.

Tender Pack

Our tender packages are meticulously prepared and sent to contractors, enabling them to provide accurate quotations while preserving the full integrity of our design intent. We ensure that every detail is clearly communicated, leaving no room for misinterpretation. This process guarantees that all specifications, plans, and objectives are effectively conveyed, allowing contractors to quote confidently and in alignment with our vision. By prioritising clarity and precision, we streamline the quoting process and ensure your project is executed to the highest standards.

Site Inspections and Development

We provide comprehensive site inspections and ongoing consultation to ensure your design vision is never compromised. We work closely with you to identify and address potential challenges, ensuring any changes are managed effectively and with minimal disruption.
